Working with Surfaces

With the Design Editor, you can easily manage the surface types and adjust the display mode.

Select a surface

  • To select a single surface, simply click on a surface of your design.
  • If you've already applied different types to the surfaces, click the inclusion type to select all surfaces that are set to the chosen inclusion type.
  • When you select a surface, the surface CAD name and CAD material are shown in the toolbar.
  • If you select more than one surface, the number of surfaces selected is also shown.

Clicking the wand icon next to the CAD surface name and material in the toolbar will select all similarly named CAD names or materials, respectively.

Apply or change a surface inclusion

  1. Select one or more surfaces.
  2. Click an inclusion from the Inclusions tab.

The surface colour has been changed and matches the swatch colour of the selected inclusion.

Reset a surface

Follow these steps if you want to clear the currently assigned inclusion from the selected surface(s).

  1. Select one or more surfaces.
  2. Click the reset icon.

The assigned inclusion type has been removed from the selected surface.

Change surface type

Setting the surface type instructs the software on how to render the surface. This allows you to render the surface as standard, turn it into glass, or hide it completely from rendering.

  1. Select a surface(s).
  2. From the toolbar, select one of Standard, Glass, or Hidden.
    • Standard: default display which is non-transparent.
    • Glass: transparent display which allows you to see through.
    • Hidden: temporarily removes the surface and allows you to select underneath surfaces.
  1. When you're done, click anywhere else in the design to unselect.

If the CAD contains hardscaping or landscaping surfaces, it's best to set these as Hidden and place one of the built-in landscape Elements, as they are usually higher detail!
